I was up in Northern Georgia on the first week of November of 2006 and the mountains, the different colors of trees and the smell of pine in the air will forever be embeded in my mind. Being from South Florida and living here all my life, the color green is programed to be seen in the 4 seasons unless a hurricane comes and then brown would be the dominant color.
I just need an insight regarding buying a home in the mountains and with Lake Lanier access. Are there any issues regarding crime, like home invasions or break-ins. Would I need a home alarm? Are there mosquito problems in the Summer? Sewer problems? My limit is arround 400K. I just didn't like the enclosed communities with small lots.

Pricing can be quite expensive around Lake Lanier, as the area is growing soooo fast. What side would you be on? Towards 400 or 85? Both have great advantages and of course some disadvantages.

I wish you the best in your house hunting! This time of year is beautiful.

Sorry to say, I don't think you will find anything on Lake Lanier with lake access at $400,000. Lake front property (and it's land-lease property) is well into the millions. I believe that lake access off of a canal would be over a million, but I'm not sure about that.

For all of you who think Florida property is expensive, welcome to North Georgia! Prime North Georgia real estate is only for the rich and famous.
