Would appreciate some restaurant recommendations in Dahlonega. I've looked at Trip Advisor, but would really like to hear about the quaint, rustic kind of places that are frequented by "locals."

I ate at the The Smith House many years ago. Family style dining. The food was good, but I don't care to dine family style. I suspect its mostly tourists that eat there.

My three favorites in Dahlonega are the Bourbon Street Grill, The Crimson Moon and the Picnic Cafe.
1) The Bourbon Street Grill - specializes in Louisiana cuisine(they also have great hamburgers etc ) and the location on the square , on their balcony is beautiful and truly unique .
2) The Crimson Moon - has very good food , the whole atmosphere is very unique in a "hippy" kind of way. My personal favorites are their salads and sandwiches . They can get very crowded , especially at night because they have live performers .
3) The Picnic Cafe - is across the square from them . They have wonderful sandwiches and baked goods .All of their breads are homemade . They have cakes, cookies , pies that are "drool over " quality !
