Where is Thomson? We're in South Florida and are looking to (possibly) relocate to somewhere outside Atlanta soon.

Thomson is a nice Mayberry-like town. I could see it as an option for retirees but if are looking for work, you may have a hard time finding it, as there doesn't seem to be a lot of industry.. many ppl drive to the Augusta area for work.
It's about a 2 hour drive from Atlanta and about 35 minutes to Augusta.
Housing is probably very inexpensive.. if that is important.
Unlike some other small towns in the area.. Thomson does offer more shopping and dining options.

I agree BIG changes are in store for McDuffie county and the surrounding area. Wilkes is also another good option, its about 15-20 mins from Thomson.

I have 2 historical houses for sale in Crawfordville, just 23 miles west of Thomson. They are both located on the most desirable street in town. Prices there are very inexpensive, and would offer someone a great country home/retirement home. There is easy access to I-20 (2 miles), and it is only 40 miles from Athens. If anyone is interested, please contact me! I am a motivated seller!
