Hey guys,

I recently got rear ended and the claim was finalized for the damages (i.e. repair costs paid out). Subsequently, i filed for a diminished value claim and was told I'd hear from the insurance company's valuation adjuster but today when i called them (after not hearing from anyone for 2-3 days) they indicated they had issued me a check (of a few hundred dollars for a damage that cost over 3 grand).

I'm trying to figure out how the diminished value claim works and whether this is appropriate for them to arrive at this payout without consulting me or requesting any documentation from me. Also, how can I best handle this situation?

Thanks

We obtained a fair settlement but it wasn't easy. We used The St. Lucie Appraisal Company for the diminished value report then fought through a number of managers and supervisors until we succeeded.
