M'eh, most people who are against the death penalty are for abortion ~ not sure how killing is okay on the innocent side of existence but not on the end of a criminal life.

What sucks is the insane sums of taxpayer money wasted on criminals who constantly appeal their death sentence, the decades of agony the victims have to go through every time another appeal scrapes the scab off the wound. Far, FAR cheaper to just throw 'em in a pit and forget em and the bleeding hearts keep their undies from getting all bunched/twisted up.

Excellent. How is offing a serial killer or pedophile anything but great? Saves tax $, saves public from them getting released to do it again. Which they often do. Plus many often say "oh well life in prison that's even worse" well then....huh? I say, execute any and all intentional murderers. Whatever way is cheapest, if it's a cattle line great whatever. Let nonviolent folks out earlier though and keep them allowed to be employable. This is great news when one can still read something good about Georgia these days.

It is sad and understandable convicts are sentenced to death for killing the innocent. It is sadder that innocent lives were taken away too soon.

Unfortunately, this is not true. In the "best case" states, the way the system is set up now, killing someone is 2x as expensive as jailing them for life. On average for all states, it is something like 10x more expensive to kill them. Cost is actually the major reason states are debating the death penalty - not morality.

In many states the cost of housing 1 non-death row inmate per year is more than the average median personal income of the U.S. in that same year. Either way seems like such a waste.
