When you visit, you should also check out Holly Springs and Canton. They're directly north of Woodstock on I-575 (both are less than 15 minutes from Woodstock). They are also in the same county as Woodstock (Cherokee). You will have much better luck finding a larger lot (1/2-acre or more) for a reasonable price. Anywhere in Cherokee County is a great place to live, IMO.

We have lived in Woodstock for 23 years and since we no longer commute, don't really identify with Atlanta. Woodstock is our home, and we love it. I have never been to Senoia, so can't comment on it. People here come from all over and from all backgrounds. Cherokee County is just 90 minutes from the Blue Ridge and IMO is much prettier than other parts of the metro. Allatoona Lake is Corp of Engineers lake and is readily accessible for boating swimming and camping. Home prices vary widely throughout the county, and seniors don't pay school taxes. Yes, summers are hot and humid but this is the 21st century and everyone has a/c. The upside is spectacular Springs and Falls and moderate winters. Just enough to warrant a change of wardrobe.😊 We live in the Towne Lake area and have everything we could possibly want - except for the ocean - within a few minutes. Medical care is first rate - just about every medical specialty you could want is in the area. Restaurants, live music, shopping, entertainment, religious facilities, hiking and biking trails, golf, etc., etc, are all right here. We, too, are looking at places to retire and so far haven't found anything to compare with the quality of life we enjoy here. I really think people who live here appreciate and take pride in our community and it shows.
