Some guidance please; I'm driving today Chattanooga to Madison via I75; should hit Atlanta area around 3 p.m. this afternoon and considering taking I75 to 285 West. Is it better to take 285 West or East around Atlanta to get to I20 at that time - or brave it take I75 all the way down to I20? I know it isn't the best time of day but can't be helped. thanks all

If it was me, would take 75 to 285 East, but only to Hwy 78 East instead of 20. Stay on that just past Monroe, then Hwy 83 through Good Hope and Bostwick down to Madison.

Although, if 285 approaching Hwy 78 is not slowing down tremendously, then continue to 20 and go from there east to Madison. The earlier you get through the metro area the better but please, drive safe!

Well it's almost 3 so maybe you're still checking this.
Google Maps shows taking 285EB is already slower than going through downtown which makes sense. It backs up at 85 pretty early. I'd actually take 285 on the west side of town. The downtown connector can get all sorts of screwed up.

Default chattanooga to Madison

Thank you for responding to my travel questions. We made it through Atlanta traffic and I285 without too much pain. Crazy busy area, glad I don't make that trip frequently. A person needs to have nerves of steal. And yes, at 2:30 traffic merging onto I85 was building heavily. Thanks again! See you next roadtrip south.
