Yesterday on Wednesday 4/5/2017 right after 9:30 PM an 2.5 magnetude earthquake was recorded in Sparta, Georgia. The earthquake was felt in seventeen different zip codes.Over the past year there have been eleven earthquakes to take place in Georgia. Ranging from 1.5 to higher. Most of Georgia's earthquakes take place west of the Blue Ridge Mountains on the Applacachian Plateau, which is bound by two plates the Carter's Dam Fault and Emerson Fault. Though this is the first time in one year that and earthquake has been registered in this part of Georgia. When I stayed in Atlanta in 2008 I remember feeling a tremblor. The next morning I got up and watched the morning news it stated that people could feel a earthquake from the state of Georgia all the way up to Chicago, Illinois.
At least 2 earthquakes in Sparta were felt in Hancock, Putnam, Baldwin, Warren, Greene counties | The Telegraph
