A few weeks ago, we went down to Toccoa, Ga. to shoot a train on well's Viaduct, but instead we saw a sign for Toccoa Falls, which we had never heard of before. Upon finding it, we shot it and enjoyed the sound of the water and by the time we eft, it was too late to go to Well's Viaduct. But this shot made up for it.

So the next weekend, we made it to Well's Viaduct.

We shot this train and were watching it cross when a second train came just a moment late before the first train had finished crossing.

Now for the question, how do you pronounce Toccoa? Toco? As in Pocp? Or To-co-a?

In the 14 years I lived in northeast GA, I only ever heard tuh-COH-uh

Beautiful photos. I never even knew that railroad bridge existed.

Toccoa is a wonderful little town, right on the edge of the mountains. I always loved that it seemed somewhat isolated from the outside world. However, this did result in some negative consequences- I have been told by "fundamentalists"that they believe that the dam broke because God wanted to "punish" the "wicked" students of Toccoa Falls School for their "debauchery."

I think I will neglect to mention to my son that he was right on the pronunciation, but thanks for setting me straight. The viaduct is right outside of town. Put in Trestle View Road on your GPs.

It's actually Trestle Ridge Rd off of Hwy. 123. Trestle View bears off to the left, then take the right fork. The view is at the end of a cul-de-sac. Neighbors seem to tolerate folks who park on the side of the road.
