I am transitioning a move from California to Georgia and am wanting to move into a safe and diverse neighborhood but also want to be located in a top school district for my son. Education is number 1 for me and I want to ensure my son is not only getting a great education but also being treated fairly. I hate to have to include race but I must be realistic. Being a single black mother, I think about our safety anywhere we go. And although I do not see color and generally do not feel uncomfortable with being in an area with majority whites, blacks or any other race for that matter but coming from another state, I also don’t know which areas would be considered safe for blacks that is also in a great surrounding and great school district. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

It would be helpful to know what part of Georgia you will be moving to in order to answer your question. If it is the metro Atlanta area you might get more feedback in the Atlanta forum

Seems to me you're quite concerned about race.
