Kemp's Aggressive Gambit to Distract from Election Security Crisis

A brief summary below:

* The voter protection director for the Democratic Party received information that there was a massive flaw in the security of the state's voter registration records.

* The security flaw is contained in the My Voter Page and allows any registered voter who is minimally computer savvy to go in and change any other voter's registration data. A bad actor who exploits this flaw is able to delete other voters from the rolls and change voter precincts.

* The Dem Party official, after verifying that the security flaw existed, contacted attorneys for Sec. Kemp and the F.B.I.

* After being notified of the flaw on Saturday, Sec. Kemp issued a press release this morning that his office was investigating the Georgia Democratic Party for hacking.

I am not sure which is worse here, the magnitude of the Kemp's abuse of power, or the extent of how vulnerable Georgia's voting system really is. From the description of the security flaw, I am pretty confident that even I could figure out how to change voter date.

You just can't make this stuff up....
Just amazing. I knew this kind of chicanery was bound to come up during the late stages of this election.

Wow.

It is scary how spectacularly incompetent Kemp has appeared to be at times while executing his duties as Georgia's Secretary of State.

Georgia has a better chance of Stacey winning than winning Amazon HQ2 as of now. I’d be cool with at least one.

I don't know if it is evidence of a decisive late break in the direction of Brian Kemp and the GOP or if it is an outlier from all the multiple recent polls that have shown the race effectively tied, but a poll that was released on Sunday by The Trafalgar Group is showing Brian Kemp with a 12-point lead over Stacey Abrams.

The poll by The Trafalgar Group, which is a polling firm that seems to have a history of fairly accurate and reliable polling, has Brian Kemp with a 52-40 lead over Stacey Abrams in a survey that was conducted October 30th through November 3rd.

The poll also shows President Donald Trump (whom has proudly endorsed and is actively supporting and campaigning for Brian Kemp) with an approval rating of 52.6% amongst Georgia residents.

Though, the exact methodology of how the poll was conducted does not appear to be clear. (...Was the poll conducted over landlines, cell phones, internet or various combinations of all three?)

That is quite the outlier from other very recent polls. I wonder if tralfagar's other recent polls have deviated so far from the average.

So I'm watching CNN and they're going over the obtained emails from the Democratic Party of GA regarding the "Voter page issue". Essentially, the voter who found the exploit emailed the Democratic volunteer Rachel Small, saying he found this issue that could potentially compromise the voter registration data. Small then forwarded the email to the Democratic Voter Protection Director Sara Ghazal who then forwarded that email to the Secretary of State's office. Kemp's office then only took the last forwarded email (which contained steps to exploit the site originally from the concerned voter) as the Democrats trying to hack the voter page website when they were merely raising the issue.

Just insane ineptitude on Kemp's SOS office.

I imagine that if Abrams doesn't win outright on election day and we go into a runoff this "ploy" will be hammered away at to show how unfit Kemp is for the SOS office and even more so the office of the Governor.

Just a complete sham.

The results of new polls for other closely watched high-profile races with national implications that Trafalgar has released seem to all be consistent with other recent polls that Trafalgar and other polling organizations have done.

So this poll very well could be an outlier from other polling that has been done that has consistently showed this race as a near-statistical tie.

On the other hand, this poll potentially also could indicate that the race has broken decisively in favor of the Republican candidate as has often been the case during the past 3 gubernatorial election cycles that the GOP has dominated Georgia politics.

It's just that this poll potentially could be reflecting much later in this election cycle the typical break towards the GOP that has previously happened earlier in the previous 3 gubernatorial election cycles of GOP dominance.

Although, a sudden 12-point GOP lead this late in an election cycle where the polls have consistently shown a statistical tie since polling on this race began does seem like a lot for a state where the GOP only won the 2014 gubernatorial race by 8 points and the 2016 presidential race by 5 points.

Their polling has some big hits historically and also some big misses. That looks to be an outlier for sure. Don’t forget that the last three days almost every other race is breaking the other way across the country

The Trafalgar Group was founded and is led by notorious GOP Consultant Robert Cahaly, who frequently makes rounds only on Fox News and other far-right media outlets. He was also arrested and sued for making illegal robocalls during the 2010 midterm elections in South Carolina.
