Air conditioner utility bill abnormally high as compared to last season. Does anyone knows the causes behind it and let me know how can I resolve this issue.

I do believe we have had a much hotter summer as of late than this time last year.

Have you confirmed that your actual meter reading is near the same point as it is on your bill? We had a similar issue recently with our water bill. As it turned out, the county had changed out our water meters, had a bad reading and adjusted the bill. The numbers reflecting the amount for which we were being billed was higher than the numbers displayed at the actual meter.

I would check the kilowatt usage first. Secondly, how can you be sure your higher than normal bill is due to the air conditioner?

Just received our power bill. For the month, it was thirty percent higher than the same month last year.

How much of a change is it? Do you have any new appliances or possibly spending more time at home this summer compared to last? I always notice a spike in my power or gas bill when my mother in law stays for weeks at a time because she doesn't go anywhere and has all the lights and TV on night and day.

If you have LED lights the impact should be minimal...
