Just think, Georgia Power could have built 20 gigawatts of wind power in Iowa & piped the power here for the cost of the two reactors. 20 Gigawatts is 10X the amount we are spending on the reactors, we could have closed all of the coal plants in the state & almost all of the peaker Simple Cycle turbines....

When we don't need the wind energy Ga. Power could have sold it off market at a profit..

Wind power is an unreliable joke. Not suitable at all for base load power.

Correct... but Ga. Power already has enough base load for the system...

2 Vogtle reactors.... 2.5 GW
Mcintosh CC .... 1.2 GW
McDonough CC ..... 2.5 GW
Scherer .... 3.0 GW
Hatch .... 1 GW
Bowen .... 3.0 GW

Ga. Power could have built another McDounough CC for around 2.5 billion & supplied the same amount of power & still brought in wind energy..

In the next 5 years, battery's will augment wind, storing energy for usage at peak times.

Would Illinois permit this idea?

But we need to be moving away from fossil fuels and into cleaner, safer power like nuclear. Wind isn't that.

Possibly, just possibly, the wind would not be blowing at the moment you need it.
