If Ossoff performs well over his first 4 years but makes at least one major blunder sometime within the last 2 years of his 6-year term as U.S. Senator, including in a time frame that is really close to the 2026 election, he will be judged on that part of his record.

Heck, there is a scenario where a U.S. Senator like Ossoff could do an excellent job throughout his entire 6-year term and still not be re-elected due to forces beyond his control, like a massive wave election that sweeps many Democratic politicians out of Congress and replaces them with Republicans because of anger at an incumbent Democratic presidential administration, a combination very low Democratic voter turnout and very high Republican turnout, etc.

It has happened before with seemingly well-performing politicians being swept out of office because of national trends beyond their control (like being a politician of the wrong political party in a state where the vote is trending heavily towards the opposite political party, etc.).

The near entirely of his 6-year term as U.S. Senator is going to count towards his re-election campaign, not just the first 4 years.
While I’ve said I think he’s inexperienced and overinflated his credentials and resume, he is intelligent and showed up prepared for the debate with Perdue.

In 6 years, assuming he’s not mailing it in or shifting radically left - which I don’t think he will be - he will have experience, and I’ll be more favorably inclined to vote for him in 2026.

Due to the way our system is set up, Warnock is going to be campaigning until midterms.

Probably. Also, if he’s still preaching on Sundays that will cut into his available time to campaign to the rest of the state.

If - and it’s a huge IF - the Republicans can field a great candidate then he’s vulnerable. But most likely they will wheel out another Karen Handel type.
