I am exhausted trying to find the best fit for us, but have family in the area and want to at least be in the same state.

We have raised our grandson, who is 17, and has high functioning autism
We need to retire now. We have a budget for housing of 250,000. We'd like to be there mountains and lakes. But, for our grandson, we need adult ed and then tech school. We are small town folk and want to avoid much crime.
Can anyone make a suggestion of where we might live? I'd really appreciate it.

I had thought Athens may be right for us, but then read very discouraging comments made on forums. Columbus is near family, but I am concerned about crime.

For services you probably want to be near the Atlanta metro. Gainesville? North or East Gwinnett? Towards Columbus, Warm Springs has a program-don't know if it would be a fit for your grandson, but it might be worth investigating.
