Big employers like Gulfstream. Otherwise it's just a generic stripmall community.

Pooler is a key suburb of Savannah, whose metropolitan area has experienced a robust amount of growth over the last two decades because of the rapid and massive growth and expansion of the Port of Savannah, a facility that has been one of the world's fastest-growing seaports during that time frame.

One of the key reasons why the Port of Savannah has been one of the world's fastest-growing seaports is because of the very significant growth of the Atlanta metropolitan area/region over the past several decades.

The very significant growth of the Atlanta metropolitan area/region as a metro area/region of international importance over the past several decades has created a rising demand in the state of Georgia as a whole for increased international imports to and international exports from metro Atlanta and Georgia by way of sea.

The massive expansion of the metro Atlanta/North Georgia/Georgia economies and the Port of Savannah have also created many large warehousing, distribution and logistical operations and facilities immediately at, around and near the seaport.

In other words, a suburban community like Pooler (which is a key part of the Savannah metropolitan area) is just experiencing the growth that the Savannah metro area is experiencing as a whole because, 1) of its status as a popular major tourist hub on the Eastern Seaboard, and 2) it is the site of one of the fastest-growing international seaports on the planet.

Massive metro Atlanta/North Georgia growth over the 7.5 decades = massive growth of Port of Savannah = significant growth of Savannah metro area/region = massive growth of a key Savannah suburb like Pooler.

I would add that Pooler seems to have annexed a sizeable chunk of unincorporated Chatham unlike a lot of other suburban cities in this state. This kind of growth is not uncommon across Georgia, it usually doesn't show up in census counts for cities as Georgia suburban growth is in unincorporated county areas. Look at Columbia County outside Augusta, well over 100k in population but with no sizeable towns to speak of.

Coastal Georgia and the Savannah area in particular are booming. Between 2000 and 2010 the Savannah Metro Area was the fastest growing (percentage wise) in all of Georgia, and Pooler was the fastest growing city in Georgia. That’s pretty much all you need to know.
