Georgia Farmers and Hurricane Michael Aid (Atlanta, Jersey: 2013, foreclosed, how much)

Georgia farmers are still in need of help. Why on earth were state officials focus on taking over the Atlanta airport, Delta tax cut, when that attention should have been on getting aid to Georgia farmers.

The airport and Delta are low hanging fruit. Hurricane aid is complex and expensive. I guess they couldn't find time for that.

However, this is a federal issue for the most part and I know Trump helped get Kemp elected so he doesn't want to ruffle feathers, but our governor and the Congressional leaders from GA and FL need to band together and press the issue more. I know Trump doesn't like Puerto Rico and the fact the GA/FL aid is tied to it, but in trying not to anger the President, our leaders aren't pushing hard enough. Nobody said leading was easy, but their first goal should be their constituents and not party politics. A few have pressed, but they aren't pushing hard enough. Just my opinion. I find it interesting that the areas in most need of aid are for the most part, the same areas that heavily support the President. Trump has typically seemed to be loyal to them and with FL and to some extent GA in play for 2020, it seems he would want to be able to say how much he helped our states on the campaign trail.

At this rate, the aid will come too late. Disaster relief has an expiration date. It does no good after land is foreclosed upon....

Its sad. Purdue is not making a big enough deal about this. Trump is not pushing this. Its all tied up in politics. Not just what to do about Puerto Rico, but Dems are doing payback for opposition to Hurricane Sandy relief.

Some of this is tied to dysfunction in the Senate. Why can't they do what they all pretty much agree on instead of making people suffer?

It's a far more complicated situation than being merely a matter of payback on Hurricane Sandy relief as this piece makes clear:

And in case anyone has forgotten, one of the most outraged people in Congress when republicans largely from texas & other southern states blocked adequate Sandy relief was Republican Peter King of New York State.

Overall it could correctly be said that the reputation of texas did not fare well in this mess!

The whole thing is shameful....however, the nation continues to vote for fist shaking dramatics instead of compromise. This is the result. Georgians and Floridians are just as guilty as the rest of the nation in supporting the current state of affairs. Like I tell everyone, it will only end when people are personally affected and choose to reject politicians without a sense of humanity. Until then the beat goes on and SW Georgia gets shafted on this one.

So there are differing opinions on what was going on in 2013.
