Funny, I didn't read the last page when I posted, got to the bottom of page 1 and thought I was at the end.

Legacy Park, IMO, is one of the nicest (if not THE nicest) planned communities in the whole area. I have several friends who have bought there and are all pleased with the schools and the neighborhoods. Your husband will have an easy commute, you will have great shopping nearby, but the large commons that they left in the center of Legacy Park is what sets it apart from other developments in the area.

I was actively involved in the church community during our years in Cobb and still have connections at several of the churches. Do you need a specific denomination or looking for a certain "style" of church (for lack of a better term) as opposed to denomination? Would be glad to offer some suggestions depending on what you are looking for. My connections are varied, so I should be able to help you find what suits you best.... wouldn't pigeonhole you to my own flavor

Default North Cobb HS

You hear North Cobb is great, magnet program etc, but I went there, graduated in 96, last year a school of excellence. My Dad graduated in '67. My kids will not go to North Cobb, at least not right now. I would however send them to Kennesaw Mtn, Harrison, Allatoona, or Kell. All areas North Cobb once covered.

your kids are young so I wouldn't worry but my sister teaches 2nd grade at Acworth.
There seems to be some confusion about North Cobb High School. I have a neighbor who child was pulled from North Cobb to go to the "better" Kennesaw Mountain. She is pregnant and did not graduate. My children both went to North Cobb. My eldest is a junior in college and already has a job waiting for him after graduation. My youngest is currently a Senior at North Cobb. She is joint enrolled at Kennesaw State University and is being recruited by Harvard, Duke and Georgetown.

I have three points here:

1. The education offer by North Cobb is as good as any other Cobb County high school.
2. How well your kid does in school depends more on you than the school.
3. Cobb County has 16 high schools. Allatoona High School just opened. Kell opened 5 years ago. Each time a new high school opens, the kids are redistricted. Your kid is 4 - you have no idea where your kid is going to attend high school unless you move next door it.

BTW, North Cobb has had 1 incident of violence in last 2 years. It was a fight between two girls in the lunch room. Harrison and Kennesaw Mtn both have had more incidences that North Cobb. Also, Harrison was known to have big drug problem. I suggest you look past the negligable differences in test scores and dig a little deeper. Also, it is my belief that some of the bad rap North Cobb get is racially motivated.

We DO love Kennesaw and are settling in quite nicely. A church is on the horizon~

Thank you for all of your help!
Please consider Kennesaw UMC on Ben King Road in your search for a church. Also they have a really strong Pre-K program see: KennesawMCA.org for more info on that.

Such great points! I do agree! There is definitely more to a school! We are a while off from High School BUT we are starting to look into how middle schools fair. So far though I have heard amazing things about the schools - all schools. Loved Kennesaw Elementary! Wow!
