I’m pretty sure any federal judge can block it. It doesn’t have to be the SC

It won't stop there. This is meant to a final showdown over Roe v. Wade.

I agree too. I think all of the states with these super-restrictive abortion bans drafted the laws counting on them being struck down. They just want the media buzz to keep their base turning out. However, I think they underestimated how much everyone else, Democrats, Independent and moderate Republicans, would freak out.

I feel bad for Fayette County, which has kind of become a company town for Pinewood Studios. Unless Kemp can figure a way to get the toothpaste back in the tube, it looks like GA is going to lose quite a bit of its film industry.

I’ve lived in coastal Georgia for 9 years now. There is Atlanta, and then there is the rest of the state. Georgians are slooow to change, traditional, and set in their ways. The majority are churchgoers, and rural. I would say backwards, but that would be insulting, and I don’t mean to be insulting. They are not forward thinking, but comfortable in the way things are...God, guns and grits. They only give lip service to changing the status quo.

I’m a pro choice conservative, but I feel like a left wing radical here.

If you asked one of my native neighbors how much they care about film companies boycotting Georgia, they would laugh.

Good point. Deep down, very few politicians would actually push for a complete ban on abortion.

I have heard that too. It’s my feeling that Kemp signed the bill knowing that it would not stand. Even pro choicers like me, welcome some reasonable restrictions, but 6 weeks is not reasonable.

Stuff like this just makes you think... in 2019 you still have people here that actually SUPPORT people that think like this lol. And people that actually think like this themselves. We just need a good 20 more years for all of these folks to no longer be a factor. Old southern conservatives STAY keeping us in the dark ages.

Exactly.

And with conservatives holding the majority of seats at 5-4, don't be so sure Roe v. Wade won't be overturned.

Also agreed.

Even if the law is struck down, if these politicians and the people who voted for them aren't held accountable for supporting the law via. financial reprecussions and the loss of their seats, it will be assumed they'll face no consequences when trying to pass more of these ridiculous bills.

Which isn't actually smart politics. If abortion is a done deal what other wedge issue will Republicans use to distract their voters from the fact that they're the reason they have no healthcare, stagnant wages, and the worst worker rights and safety nets in the first world.
