Um, my friends husband works on this and she told me about 6 months ago that they were going to pull the filming from here, at least that is what they had been told would probably occur. It had nothing to do with the new bill. Timing is convenient though.

They can always move back to CA temporarily, or at least some place like NM that's also offering film incentives. If they can't get actors to film in Georgia because of the heartbeat bill, all of that other stuff you mentioned is a non-factor.

BTW, if you don't think it can happen, look no further than NC after they passed the Bathroom Bill.

The TV/film industry in NC had already been on a heavy downswing when HB2 passed; it was the state legislature's refusal to sustain the incentives program that was largely responsible for that.

Unless the extremists running the state suddenly have a change of heart and repeal it, there's no reason why it wouldn't go into effect.

This is why I said the chasing entertainment productions as a substantial portion of the economy is a bad idea. Georgia might be "changing", but so are Florida and North Carolina. However, the majority of the elected officials in these Southern states are still too mercurial to trust to not make bad decisions which will impede the sustainability of "liberal arts" type of economic investments. Virginia is the only state that is a "safe" bet in the South.
