Actually, I think Macon is getting a very large lifestyle center on the northside..I'm sure Mayor of Macon can update us on that. I am pretty sure that Macon Mall is the largest mall in Georgia outside metro Atlanta.. but like I said.. I am not really impressed by malls or the new retail fad: lifestyle centers. I'd much rather have a vibrant downtown with upscale retail shopping choices where you can truly "window" shop.

Yeah the Macon Mall is 1.4 million square feet. But all of that isn't filled either. It looks like some of the space will be filled with a Movie Theater.

Bigger doesn't always mean better by the way.

I hope to visit their lifestyle center soon.

Do savannah, macon, or columbus have these stores. So before you talk about higher end retail being in one city over the other.

And costco has been coming to augusta since last year. Savannah just learned they were getting a costco about 1 month ago. Does costco have plans for macon or columbus? It seems to me that augusta by far is chosen when it comes to stores after atlanta.

Costco has not announced they are coming to Augusta either.. just rumors. The Bass Pro Shops has been officially announced. Costco is expanding.. so it would not surprise me if Costco located in Savannah, Augusta, Macon, and Columbus..all similarly sized markets.

Costco coming to augusta is no rumor they are. People in augusta new costco was coming last year. This article was before bass pro shop join belk, starplex cinema, and costco. At the village at riverwatch opening 2009

The MGHerring Group is reporting on an Internet marketing brochure that Costco has joined Belk as one of its anchor stores.

Costco has more than 500 warehouse-style stores similar to Sam's Club worldwide. The closest Costco locations to Augusta are in the Atlanta area.

Well they had Dillards in their marketing brochure before and now it appears there will be no Dillards at the center.. just because something appears in a marketing brochure does not mean it is a confirmed tenant. Bass Pro Shops had an official announcement that they will be joining the center. Costco has made no such announcement. It is likely that Costco is a tenant MgHerring is courting..it may indeed come.. or may not (as the case with Dillards).
Like I said, it would not surprise me if Costco opened locations in all of Georgia's 2nd tier cities. Costco has been in Greenville, SC and Charleston for a few years now.

Huntsville, AL
Montgomery, AL
Hoover, AL
Greenville, SC
Spartanburg, SC
Myrtle Beach, SC
Charleston, SC
all have Costcos already.. I like them much better than Sams..

Everybody knows the owner's of augusta mall put weight on dillard's not to open at village at riverwatch. Threatening to kick them out of other ga cities malls. The people who own the augusta mall not only own malls in atlanta, savannah, and other georgia cities. But all across the united states. The owners of perimeter mall in atlanta own the augusta mall too. They recently just completed a new lifestyle center at AUG mall. We still have cranes at augusta mall. Even though alot stores have already opened up.
