Hwy 78?
Hwy 29?
Or I-85 to Jefferson and then down the 4-lane bypass into Athens?
Which is the easier, quicker drive?

GA 316, which on some maps is labeled US 29, has the smoothest flow of traffic, and connects directly with 85.

Yep. If going from Downtown or North Metro, you want to to take I-85 to 316. If you’re going from Central DeKalb or South Gwinnett, then you want to take 78. If you are along or south of I-20, you want to take 20 to Conyers, pick up 138 to Monroe, then hit 78 on into Athens.

Thank you all. I think I-85 and 316 are the roads we took before, from North Atlanta. Nice drive. But since it's been 4 years I wanted to ask for updated info.
