From one Fairfield County transplant to another, welcome to Georgia!

I'm wondering if Milledgeville wouldn't be a good fit for you; near Lake Sinclair, not too small of a town. Though it is a little bit further from Atlanta than prior suggestions.

Thank you DJDeadParrot! How are you adjusting to Georgia? Was it your choice to move here or necessary for business? We are going to look in the Sinclair/Oconee area as you suggested. I love this forum. Very kind that people like you take the time to reply.

City-Data,

What do we all think of Braselton as a recommendation for OP?

Braselton is okay...

But, the OP seems to either want to live in a community that is either immediately near a large lake and/or has a traditional small-town type of feel, with a vibrant walkable downtown village area with shops and restaurants.

Braselton may not necessarily be the best candidate for the OP because it is located at least about 15-20 miles from Lake Lanier and does not offer the type of traditional small-town feel that the OP is looking for.
