Houston County's growth has been very impressive.

Houston County's growth also seems to be very appropriate given that the county traditionally has been a major player and continues to be a power in Georgia statewide and national politics.

Amongst some of the power players from Houston County are Georgia's current senior U.S. Senator David Perdue, current U.S. Agriculture Secretary and former Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue, long time former Georgia U.S. Senator Sam Nunn, former Georgia state House Majority Leader Larry Walker, and current Georgia state Senate Majority Caucus Chairman Larry Walker III.

I do very much wish that, in addition to being linked to metro Atlanta and North Georgia by way of Interstate 75, Houston County and Middle Georgia also was connected to metro Atlanta and North Georgia by way of a high-speed regional commuter rail line.

I think that a high-speed regional commuter rail line connection to metro Atlanta would make Houston County's growth even more robust than it already currently is by enabling Middle Georgia to tap more directly into the very robust growth that metro Atlanta experiences.

I think that a high-speed regional commuter rail connection to metro Atlanta would make it easier for people to commute between Middle Georgia and metro Atlanta, effectively making Houston County an outer-exurban bedroom community of metro Atlanta.
