Cue all of the news articles shocked about turnout. Can't knock people caring and showing up, and let's face it, all these mailers and knocks and outdoor DJ "get out the vote" sessions were the MVPs.

Urban voters turned out, rural less than in November. If you don’t show up you can’t complain about the result.

I’m not a fan of the text and mailer deluges and low information GOTV initiatives but it’s one person, one vote. Every one counts.

I had predicted Warnock winning but thought Perdue would squeak out a win. Congrats to the Reverend for running a strong campaign. He’ll need to start strong as his next election is November 2022.

I concur. I think it also comes down to personality. There was only one positive Loeffler ad during the runoff...ONE (the little girl on a farm with leg braces) She was appointed, not as well known, lots of people wanted Collins instead, but instead of introducing herself, she attacked attacked, and attacked some more.

Similar situation with Perdue. Few ads about what he has done for Georgia in 6 years, but only ads screaming socialism, China, AOC, Schumer, more socialism, etc.

All the outside money coming at Georgia from a national perspective didn't hit home and basically annoyed people. Warnock and to a lesser extent, Ossoff at least tried to be personable and threw in a few positives. Loeffler and Perdue were all stop socialism, save America.... I just don't think it resonated for them and they didn't talk about Georgia or themselves to balance the national PAC ads. Just my 2 cents....

I do have to say the Warnock dog ads were pretty funny.
This. I also enjoyed the ad he released days before the election acknowledging voters being tired of all the texts and phone calls.

Great work by all the “get out the vote” teams. But glad this is over, for now. The ads, calls and texts were starting to drive me nuts.

The sad part out of all the GOTV teams is that they were spam texting based upon public information. I got a new T-Mobile line recently as part of a promotion and that number was previously owned by 2 people - Jumonna and Jasmine.

In November I’d get a text or 2 a day leading up to the last few days.

This time, I got - from at least 5 groups - multiple texts per day for early voting, absentee voting, and then Tuesday voting. Again, and again, and again.

“Jumonna, did you vote?”
“Jasmine, this is your chance to save Georgia”
“Xxxx is your local polling place”
Etc.

Originally I thought that Jumonna or Jasmine might have been supporters or activists who registered to receive all these texts. I replied this time to a couple asking “where did you get my name”? The answer - from public lists.

Some had a “to cancel, enter STOP” but many, including from Warnock’s and Ossoff’s campaigns, didn’t. So I’m getting unsolicited messages with no way to really prevent them or opt out. I think there’s a federal law against this.

While I applaud our electoral system, if someone needs to be treated like a child and told again and again to vote, and basically who to vote for with little context other than “flip Georgia”, “turn Georgia blue” or “help Georgia” it’s really pitiful. I wonder how many of those voters actually reviewed the PSC candidates - and if they even voted for them.

Voting has become like The Kardashians or The Bachelor - lowest common denominator. And it’s for both parties.

Congratulations to Stacey Abrams, who engineered a stellar turn-out-the-vote initiative.
Georgians should be proud of her!
