Hey Gang -
Any Dubliners (or native Dubliners) lurking? I was born there but have been in Atlanta for almost 20 years. My fiance still lives there and since most of our families are there, we'll probably end up doing the wedding there. My question...where the heck do you hold a sizeable reception/banquet in Dublin???? Both the Holiday Inn and new LaQuinta are very nice, but we'd pack them out before we ever got the immediate family members in the door! I'm not too keen on the Civitan Club (last resort) as I've been to a reception there. What else is there? Is there a big event room at the National Guard Armory? (We have military folks in the fam that could probably get us in.)

Let me know if you've got any good feedback!

Thanks!

If anyone in the family has a country club membership, it can accommodate a sit-down for 350-400. They probably will quote you 500, but that is way too crowded. The National Guard Armory used to host the high school proms, so that is a large, open seating area (though a little sterile and probably a bit harder to decorate). The Heart of Georgia Tech can accommodate up to 1500 and can divide their meeting spaces into smaller rooms, but you will want to check their rates, of course.

Other suggestions would be the Elk's Club (don't know about membership requirements), but I think the sit-down dinner combined with the dance floor might only hold 200. I don't know about the size of the Moose Club facility. You might inquire about the First Baptist Family Life Center, which is 2-tier floor and carpeted and also has a stage and probably a PA system available. However, I do not know what their policy is concerning the public renting the facility, and I am pretty positive there could be no alcohol served.

The Page House Bed & Breakfast is probably the most beautiful facility to host a reception, but it would be much smaller than the motel meeting spaces you mentioned.
