"Cangelosi's Pizza is only a couple of months old and is in Powder Springs. The owner and the cook are both native New Yorkers, and while my experience level in NYC isn't exactly extensive, I can at least say it's "damn good" pizza. They have other stuff on the menu like pastas and a few sandwiches, but I usually stick with the pizza.

It's a small hole-in-the-wall place in a small new shopping center right in Powder Springs on Richard Sailor's Parkway, next to the Autozone, near the intersection of New Macland (in front of the Powder Springs Home Depot). They've been pretty well received in this area, and some nights are pretty busy, filling up the small seating area they have, so they just rented out the retail space next door to them as they're going to expand their dining room (I think it'll be ready in mid to late July).

Here's their web site: Cangelosi Pizza[/quote]"

I can vouch for the cook...he is my nephew, Erik. He is born and raised in NY (no not the "City" but he is Italian all the way) He loves his job and making those pies so go to Cangelosi's and keep him happy!!! Thanks!
Barb

Actually, we ate at Johnny's NY pizza and found it disgusting. It was tomato paste on dough, with no flavor. We've had a heck of a time trying to find real pizza in GA. The only place we've ever found pizza that was edible was at Mellow Mushroom.

Yes, to me Johnny's is disgusting.

Mellow Mushroom is good, but for me, more like a gourmet pizza and a little too doughy.

I see you are in Canton. The closest thing to NY pizza we found and I think moderator Bob can attest to, is A Taste of Italy. They have two locations, one in Holly Springs on 5 near a Publix. The second which is closer to me is on 92 close by the Woodstock Square. The owner at the latter, has been quite accomodating to several of our requests.

ready2move-thanks for the tip! We'll be sure to check it out. I agree with Mellow Mushroom really doughy, but I like it (kind of like a sicilian) Thanks!

INgleside Village Pizza here in Macon is great. Never had real New York pizza but i've had Chicago, and it as great.

I would recommend Bella's Pizzaria and Fortunado's in Smyrna. Both are quite good (and much better than Mellow Mushroom, in my opinion).
