Im a registered Democrat but consider myself an Independant.I am a very big supporter of Public transportation EVERYWHERE, of all types,Whether you are in Perry or Atlanta. Some form should be available. However I want to know is it the Republicans,Dems,or both,or is it the publics fault that we are going through this crisis with the gas AGAIN.I am really trying to be non-partisan however i do know that Roy Barnes was actively seeking all types of public transportation in Atlanta and Georgia and had made great progress in expanding it just before he lost the election to a very at best mediocre governor(Sonny Perdue).George W has never pushed a major public transportation bill.
Sonny if I am not mistaken has not made nearly the commitment to support Marta or at least on the level that Roy Barnes commited to,or any other statewide transportation innitiatives. Is it just me or do people do not understand the importance of this especially today.Yet nothing more than LIP SERVICE is given by the state and Federal government.Europeans are fine during this crisis.Even poor couintries invest in public transport heavily. So whose fault is it?And do most feel that it should be moved up to be more of critical importance?Should it matter if you live in a rural area versus an urban area?

Exactly where did you register as a Democrat? You can't in Georgia so this poll is already b/s, you're lying, you can't be registred as any party!

Need an admin to lock this one down.

What?I may be mistaken, but do not ever call me a liar. You don't even have the PLEASURE of knowing me that well. You really should take some etiquette classes. Have some class about yourself and engage as a human being instead of a person who only knows how to communicate through insults.
If you must know I first voted 1988 in Delaware while in the military.I could be wrong but I thought as you vote in one party in the primaries you are then automatically registered UNLESS you later declare otherwise. What does that have to do with the poll and the question I answered?Get a Grip and a life.

Did you forget the long line of Democrat Governors and Legislature majorities since Reconstruction? Perdue is the first Republican Governor since Reconstruction and both the State House and Senate were controlled by Democrat majorities until just this decade. It's amazing how the Republicans get into power after many years and now it's all their fault.

Remember George Busbee, Joe Frank Harris, Zell Miller, Roy Barnes? .....Democrats

Remember Tom Murphy, the all powerful Speaker and power broker? ....Democrat

BTW...ever been to Europe? Traffic, congestion, and pollution in ever major city.

OK you have a valid point.I do not neccesarily disagree.Yes i lived outside London and Italy while in the Air Force.Been to France,Germany and in 2 months will be in Spain and Portugal. You say Europe has pollution but what does that have to do with the fact that we have more or as much pollution, congestion and traffic in our cities. What does this have to do with the current state of affairs.Democrats created MARTA/It may not be great but if Atlanta did not have it....All those Governors that you mentioned were more progressive than especially other southern states.
What have the Republicans done to advance it since they have been in power?Or do you think its not a big deal,.If thats your answer then i respect that even though I don't agree.Im talking about this issue today and who is or not doing what to make transportation a greater priority TODAY.

Without pointing my finger at a party, I voted the public. However, it's mostly OTP residents that voted against expanding mass transit into Cobb and Gwinett Counties, and most of them happen to be registered Republican.

YOU POSTED THIS IN A GEORGIA FORUM, I had to assume you're a resident. IN GEORGIA you CAN NOT be registered with either party, if in fact, your voting in GEORGIA!. You're misleading 'Georgia' residents and visitors by stating yourself to be registered as one party but vote independant. It just can't be.

Sorry I called you out, but tough shiot. It has nothing to do with etiquette, it has to do with 'ethics'. My voter registration card doesn't refer to any party.

The only thing 'registering' does, IN GEORGIA, is give you, your polling place, that's it!

You get a ballot with both parties on it in the primaries, you don't get a primary ballot with either ONLY DEMOCRAT or REPUBLICAN candidates that you're forced to vote for one.

Here's the form, if in fact you're a Georgia resident, as we have to assume b/c of the forum, then you are misleading people. You can't vote for party (you can in other states, but not here).

I'm don't pretend to hide my views as you obviously are, So you're not independant, you're a Democrat, and trying to start ****!

I actually voted 'public' b/c I take the damn CCT bus everyday to work and am a long time 'red' resident of Cobb but see the value. However, I don't agree with forcing other Cobb voters to foot the bill to pay for it, where a very small percentage would use it.
