NJ has 2 major cities : Philly and NYC, well at least their suburbs are in NJ.

You know what i mean. There core cities are not within New Jersey.I mean those governed by there states.I don't mean to be a New Jersey basher, because there are some really beautiful areas in New Jersey that most people would not think were there. They do have their share of really troubled cities, some are Camden,Trenton,Newark,Jersey City and Pattersen.

Alabama's population is spread more evenly than you'd think. Birmingham is just the larger metro of the 4 other metros. Mobile and Huntsville aren't that far behind... especially compared to Georgia's cities.
Also, New Jersey's cities are not in ruins. New Jersey is more of a suburban state anyway with New York City & Philadelphia being close neighbors. Atlantic City seems to be doing fine. NJ is also home to Princeton.

Ok ruins is a strong word. They are tring to clean up.But many of them have severe problems. As far as the Alabama comparison' most of Alabama's cities are no bigger than those in Georgia.Birmingham as you stated is not much bigger than its other cities

Right. Be it slight, Alabama's cities (its major ones), for the most part, are a bit larger than Georgia's 2nd tier cities. Except for Montgomery.
