Seriously considering moving to GA. Employment would be in Alpharetta. We would like to find a 5 bedroom home with at least 3,000 square feet. Is this possible with a payment at 2,000 dollars a month?
We also would like to be near quality schools.

I agree. Check Cherokee County (Canton, Woodstock, Holly Springs). You've got a fairly easy two-lane drive into Alpharetta, and your taxes will be a third of what they are in Fulton County (Alpharetta, Roswell).
You also may want to consider Forsyth County to the north (Cumming) but traffic may be a little worse.
