Hi,
From what I hear about any type of construction. You had better go to Texas.
Good Luck

Plumber friend here in Athens and a fireman who installs closet hardware on the side both say that construction in and around Athens is dead. Cannot authoritatively speak for other areas, but from what I read and hear, it is very tight throughout Georgia. Good friend whose son is a contractor/developer laid off all his crews. Kept on one guy and now the two of them do what work they can pick up.

There is a LOT of construction ongoing at Fort Bragg, NC (Fayetteville). The Army has been putting a lot of money into that fort. You might check around there.

Talked to a septic tank field contractor not too long ago. He said he would likely be out of business early 2009. People are ignoring septic problems and he is having a tough time getting paid by his clients. He says mechanic liens are a joke for the most part.

Good luck to you.

yes, in georgia they are.

you can't collect until they sell the house, and you only get paid if previous liens are satisfied first.

small claims court is the only viable option.

I'm not sure, but keep in mind that North Carolina has a much higher state income tax. You should check it out on line first. I think GA's lowest rate is 2% or so, but NC's lowest is something like 12%.
