My thoughts of Columbus and Macon (Atlanta, Savannah: apartment, lofts, hotel)

Tell us about employment, the cost of living, cultural opportunities, sports and entertainment. "Nanny, nanny, nanny, my town is better" isn't helpful.

Not only do I like the quality of life....So those others that ranked Columbus as the 4th highest place for families....


Only other Cities in Georgia that were ranked were : Atlanta at 61, and Augusta at 85.


If i'm not allowed an opinion on this board, could someone let me know! I didn't ask with city felt more like a city, or which one had this or that, I said which one I liked better and I said Columbus...Do I need to break it down more

Better neighborhoods: Columbus
Better interstates: Macon
Better schools for my kids: Columbus
Better Mall: Columbus mall is smaller, Macon has some empty stores: TIE
Better Universities: Macon
Better government: Columbus....seems to have a sense of direction


I also think its so funny when someone on here post something about Macon and all of the Maconites come out very agressive and offensive

And for the yerocal guy..... I guess you didn't want to read the article on why Columbus was ranked so high as being a great place to raise a family. I didn't make up the article, but everytime someone gives their opinion on Macon, I notice that it really makes you upset. I certainly know which city is better for my family and apparently so does people who ranks cities!!!

I respect your opinion. I am curious, however, as to the article you are referring to; Can you place a link or give the site address to this article? Frankly, I'm surprised Savannah didn't make the list.

It's funny, because if Columbus actually had a decent sized mall, great interstate access, a skyline and a compact-urban setting like Macon, they would certainly mention it to boost their town, but when Maconites do it, it's pointless.

LOL...So you think Macon has a skyline.....thats interesting....you people are so funny!! Atlanta has a skyline and that's really it in Georgia. I don't think I would consider another city in Georgia has a real skyline....and if I was to choose a city with a skyline...it would be Savannah or Augusta.

I like Columbus just the way it is...I lived in both, Macon longer and people in Macon think that they live in a city and Columbus is the country. How funny, there's no bid difference other than Columbus government is more organized and has nicer neighborhoods.

I must respectfully disagree with you on Atlanta having the only skyline in GA. Of course, there are other parts of Atlanta such as Sandy Springs that have impressive skylines too. Macon does in fact have a decent skyline for its size. Augusta as well. And yes, Savannah has one too. Finally, Columbus. I couldn't leave Columbus out. Albeit small, (they're all pretty small compared to ATL) Columbus has one too. We must factor in populations to support mid and high rises though. You can't just have a 5-600 footer in a city with 200K. (especially when that 200K is metro) ..thats for the record btw.
