I am not moving there. I just wanted to know what it is like? Is it a liberal college town. What is the University and the downtown area like?

Any photos? Thanks.

"Is it a liberal college town.'

Of course! Normally votes for the losing governor. There is no other place in Georgia like Athens/Clarke county.

I just moved from the near Chicago Suburbs [Niles]. It is not all that different from where I came from. It has lots of good shopping Office Depot, Home Depot, Lowes, Target, Walmart, Sears, Kohls, Pennies. The weather is nicer, and the roadways are better paved and less congested. The costs of living in some respects are lower, rent, gas, and utilities, not income tax or car fees. Everything is much more compact than Chicago. So far I like it here. I don't spend a lot of time downtown or at the University. I work on The southeast side at the USDA and live on the West side and do most of my shopping on there as well. I would basically sum it up as a compact city.
