Hello! We are moving to Warner Robins in June and are looking for some solid information on the high schools in Warner Robins. We have been getting a lot of conflicting information about which school is best. We have twin boys who will be Sr's this Fall. They have attended base/DODDS schools for the past 6 years and I am worried about their integration into a large public school. The boys are well rounded and have friends from all walks of life. Kind of hard not too being a military brat. Of course safety and academics are most important but they also play football and are in JR ROTC. We also have a daughter who will be in 3 rd grade so we have to consider elementary schools as well. We are planning to buy a house so making this decision about the high school is pretty important. I appreciate your input.

Hello from Houston County! We have great schools in our community and I think you will be very happy here. I am a military brat who moved away and then moved back for my children to grow up here and to attend Houston County schools. If you visit the HC Board of Education Web site (Houston County Schools Home Page), you will see a link to the Ga. Department of Education Web site to view the system and school-by-school rankings. The BOE Web site also has a link to "News" which has a lot of information, to include test scores and awards. All of our high schools have football teams and JROTC. If you find your top three homes and then visit the schools within that zone, that would probably be the easiest way to pick the school you like most. Good luck!

As a military family, schooling was our #1 priority. Here are my votes...

Houston County High (~10 years old give or take)
Mossy Creek Middle (~2 years old)
Lake Joy Elementary (opened this school year)
Lake Joy Primary (I think less that 5 years old--used to house grades k-5 and now split with the new elementary school next door)

PS. Far easier to pick the school and then the home. I recommend you visit these schools prior to house hunting. Warner Robins has GROWN in the 3 short years that we have been here. Major growth in what is referred to as "Sub South"

Really, none of the high schools in Houston Country are bad. Northside, Warner Robins, Houston County and Perry are all Decent to Good.

The other thing to consider is desirability. If you're going to buy a home, and you can pick up a nice foreclosure...The most desirable area is the "sub south"...You'll have the best odds of selling your house...Also look into surrounding towns such as Bonaire and Kathleen. I believe you don't pay as much property tax in those towns.

If your considering SAT scores, Northside ranks higher that the others. The best of the elementary schools is either Quail Run or Lake Joy.

I think I saw a report that WRHS was second and PHS was third and HCHS was fourth. There is only about 200 points difference between them. HCHS and WRHS have been known to have over crowding problems.

I will agree that all are good schools - certainly the BEST BOE in the area.
