Well, I'm from north Georgia (Calhoun) and tornadoes are a little less common here than the area you're talking about, but the reality is most any place in the country has some kind of natural disaster that could happen, but they're usually not common. With that being said, get a storm shelter installed and you won't have much to worry about (No blizzards for sure).

As of now the State of Georgia is in a mild drought, some cities or catching little or no rainfall, red flag warnings are out, Atlanta's reservior is becoming empty, the reservior. You may think that flooding cannot happen because of the drought, well this is untrue, a huge amount of rain could dump, many of Georgia's cities are unprepared. Tornadoes are not as common, many of Georgia's tornadoes are spun off by rain storms, and hurricanes. Hurricanes are also something Georgia has been ducking from, states around us see Georgia as fortunate not to have as many hurricanes, and sometimes not to be hit head on.
