That is Georgia for you. When you cut the grass, wear a surgical mask because if you cut the grass, you will kick up pollen and other sorts of crap. I should know. I have cut the grass so many times in my own back yard and ended up miserable from the grass.

Yep I do that and more. I wait until the grass is damp and then clean the blades...I gotta sharpen them more but it's worth it to keep from kicking up anything.

But it's not just the grass here...it's EVERYTHING for me

You lean over the sink and put it up one nostril holding the other and lightly sniffing that up, then repeat. Then you blow your nose lightly.

Hope this makes sense!
R2M how much does this 'netti pot' cost? And how well does it hold up? I use a Waterpik with a special attachment that shoots the water WAY up into the sinus cavities. It works fine, but the salt in the water screws up the electrical parts after about 18 months. I hate having to shell out $45-50 for a new one.

Also, did you have the surgury too? or do you irrigate unaltered sinuses.

One thing I have in my favor is that I'm only allergic to one thing......

PLANT LIFE!

Kettlepot,

I used to use the same one, but the one I use now, is non-mechanical. I actually bought it in Eckerds. Just a cup that comes with pre-packaged saline. For me, I found it worked just as well. It only costs about 12.00.

I have been talking to a very smart friend of mine who is into holistic mediciine and she suggested Oil of Oregeno.(liquid not capsules) She says it is NASTY, really nasty, but effective. You put a drop or two under your tongue. If you go to the health food store, make sure that you get a high quality grade. You can also do a goole search and put in "allergies and Oil of Oregeno" and it should pull up some info.

I am off to the HFS store myself this am.

The pollen count is ridiculous. That is what happens when there is little or no winter. The pollen comes back with a vengeance.

had to take my dog to the vet today for a stool sample. She said he has tons of pollen in his poo.

As a newcomber to GA, this is truly disgusting!

Fear not, the worst should be over in a couple of weeks. Then, the hypnotic beauty of Atlanta's spring and summer seasons will erase the yellow powder from our minds, if not our patio furniture (that takes a pressure hose).

The thing to do next year is plan an extended vacation for late March through mid April.
