We have lived in Costa Rica for 4 years, and have lived in Boquete Panama for 3 years, we are from Colorado, we are considering georga, north of atlanta, we really want nothing to do with a large city, and again we do not want to live in the country, a mid size of maybe 50,000 +or- might work out. we do need a community that has medical, shopping, restaurants and everything real normal without the big city. We are retired and still very active, we need help on where to start looking !!

You might like Sacramento! Then again, I think this post belongs in the Georgia forum. Good luck!

Kennesaw - Woodstock - South Canton/Holly Springs are all areas with enough to do to keep busy but without the expense and hassle you'd find in Atlanta. That would be from I-575 exit 1 through to Exit 14. Zip codes 30188, 30189, 30114, 30152 are just a few.

If you want to buy, try to stay in Cobb, Cherokee, or Dawson counties. Forsyth county is OK too and you're near the GA 400. Fulton and Gwinnett counties are horribly expensive. Please don't buy or rent a townhouse. If you want to rent, there are bazillions of detached homes.

Best wishes.

i would be interested in why you want to return to the USA. i belong to another forum where some of the members are desiring to relocate to panama or costa rica thinking that the quality of life there will be better than the USA during these harsh economic times.

i live in Athens. i think it would likely meet your needs on all counts. however, we have a high poverty rate, high crime rate and climbing. i would suggest you might want to consider the adjacent county: oconee county. still, the services in Clarke County are good and there is plenty of housing to choose from.

all the best.

Rodney said that he does not want to live in the country so i think you can probably rule Dawson County out.
