Aiken County a suburb in Augusta has almost more ppl than Macon- Bibb.
Bibb 155,216 - Aiken 154,071

And Clayton county the 5th populated county with 273,000 in Atlanta is higher than.
Savannah - Chatham 250,000
Augusta - Richmond 200,000
Columbus - Muscogee 187,000

Metropolitan Augusta is much larger than metro Macon and even significantly larger than Savannah and Columbus too, and of course Atlanta is ...Atlanta. So thats not a shocker, just like Macon, Augusta and Columbus all have suburban counties with a larger pop than Athens-Clarke.

Augusta is noticeably larger than Macon...just like Macon is noticeably larger than Athens.

I'd love to see a sub forum for the "Athens Area" I live in Jefferson but only 14 miles from the loop off of 129.

There are many little burgs surrounding Athens like Watkinsville, Hull, Jefferson, Winterville etc. Many of us commute into Athens for work so maybe not just Athens but the "Athens Area" to include the city proper but also the surrounding areas that many non-students live in and commute.
