I've been thinking about moving to Georgia, but I need detail information:

1. State income tax, how much will I have to pay to the state income tax for a 30,000 salary.

2. Car insurance I have a chevrolet venture 1999, more or less how much will I pay, no tickets in my license.

3. How much will I pay for a 200,000 house in gwinnett county in taxes

4. Light bill

5. water

6. Insurance

7. which other taxes will I pay in georgia besides, federal and state income tax and property taxes???????

I want to make sure that is really worth it.............

well you are assuming that your income here will be the same as it is where you are now ===it wont be unless you work at McDonalds
car insurance is easy call your car insurance company they will tell you
property taxes vary 1500-2000 yr
so I guess a house with taxes around 1800 $200000 loan would be about $1600 a month not exactly sure but not a bad guess
$150000 loan around $1100

I don't understand what are you saying, a salary of 30,000 ayear is a 14 dollars an hour job, they paid that in MCDonalds in Georgia??????

I'm a legal asistant and I want a job in my field, is my job in demand in Georgia??

Property taxes will be around 1500 to 2000, thanks for that...

I still don't know how much is the light bill????

How much will I pay as single with a 30,000 job in state income tax?

Water bill?

Car insurance for a car more or less (Ihave a chevrolet venture 1999) I still ive in Florida so the rates that they have are Florida rate, so I need to have and idea.

Again is there other taxes that you pay in the state, like food taxes?????

Before we get into the answers to your questions below, I'm assuming you've got $200k in cash to buy a house- because on $30k/year, you surely aren't going to qualify for a mortgage on one.

That being said, ballpark answers to your questions are below.

1. State income tax, how much will I have to pay to the state income tax for a 30,000 salary. You'll pay around $1,300/year is state income tax based on being single with no dependents. It's roughly 6% of the $30k minus standard deductions.

2. Car insurance I have a chevrolet venture 1999, more or less how much will I pay, no tickets in my license. If you don't want collision or theft coverage (probably not worth it on a 9 y/o car), you're probably be around $500-700/year.

3. How much will I pay for a 200,000 house in gwinnett county in taxes Probably in the $2,000-2,500/year range

4. Light bill Depends on how big the house is, how energy efficient it is, and how cold you like to keep the AC. Could be anywhere from $50/mo to $250/mo

5. water Maybe $30/mo

6. Insurance I'm assuming you mean homeowners insurance, which will likely be around $400/year

7. which other taxes will I pay in georgia besides, federal and state income tax and property taxes??????? You'll pay a yearly "tax" on your car registration. For a 1999 Venture, it'll probably be around $150/year.

I want to make sure that is really worth it.............

1. State income tax, how much will I have to pay to the state income tax for a 30,000 salary.

Check out http://www.etax.dor.ga.gov/inctax/IndvEst.pdf (broken link) to estimate the tax. Assume you are single, it should be around $1400 a year.

2. Car insurance I have a chevrolet venture 1999, more or less how much will I pay, no tickets in my license.

Maybe 500 a year. I don't think that there is a lot of difference between Georgia insurance rate from Florida or Texas which I used to live.

3. How much will I pay for a 200,000 house in gwinnett county in taxes

After deduction, roughly 1% of the property. If you live within city limit, another 300 a year.

4. Light bill

~100 if you have newer house.

5. water

No much. Maybe 15 to 20/month

6. Home insurance

300 to 400 a year.

7. which other taxes will I pay in georgia besides, federal and state income tax and property taxes???????

Car tax which costs $100 a year.

Also, for 30,000 salary, it is going to be difficult to buy $200,000 house. Most people suggested 3 times your salary. For 30,000, you are looking at 90,000 house. Atlanta has big foreclosure problem as it is.

The Ad Valorem is going to depend on what model Venture you have and where exactly you live. You can estimate it here:

http://www.state.ga.us/DOR/ptd/cds/mvman/2007/search.cgi?make=CHEV&model=VENTURE&year=1999&submi t=Begin+Search&type=T (broken link)

I estimated it at somewhere between $30 and $60 a year, payable on your birthday.

"I'm a legal asistant and I want a job in my field, is my job in demand in Georgia??"

If you are a legal assistant making 30,000, I am assuming that you are new in the field. There is a demand for legal sec./paralegal in the Atlanta metro area, however, it is very competitive. Most head-hunters, if not all, will test you on your skills. Best to you.

Default Same situation

Me and my fiance are facing an issue! He got offered a job for 58,000 a year in ATL, GA....where he made 35,000 here where we live now, Chattanooga, TN. Now, His job here has counter offered him 47,000 a year here. Would it be better to move to ATL for 58,000 or to stay here in chattanooga, TN for 47,000.\? I know the cost of living is high in ATL and very low here in Chattanooga. Would the cost of living basically eat up that extra 11,000? Im thinking it would probably eat up most of that...and then the left over wouldnt be enough for the trouble to move all the way to ATL. Am I right? Please respond...we have to decide asap. Thanks.

We don't live in ATL, but my husband received an approximately $10K raise coming from DFW. We lived in a brand new 3000 square foot David Weekley home there and here we can only afford smaller older homes. To purhase a home *similar* to what we had in size, quality and age we're looking at A MINIMUM of $60-100K more. Auto insurance has stayed the same. Energy bills a lot less. Gas is higher, but that's national as well as good (again national because gas has gone up to transport the food).

But between the higher rent and state taxes (I don't if Tennessee taxes are more or less or any compared to here) his "raise" with a family of 5 so lots of tax deductions comes out to roughly a NEGATIVE $200 a month compared to there.

Thank you for that info, I am thinking that staying here is a better idea...considering we dont have state taxes.
