Hello Everyone,

I am currently a registered nurse student graduating in the Spring of 2010 and looking to relocate to Georgia. I'm a single mother of a two year old and would like to find a family-friendly neighborhood that's near major hospitals. I'm looking for a safe neigborhood with good schools and a need for new RNs. I also do not want to be too far from Atlanta (since I hear it is simlar to Miami).

And oh yea...diversity is a plus/must.

Any recommendations???? Your level of expertise will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!!!!

If you want a diverse area that has the small town feel while being somewhat cosmopolitan check out Athens. There are some excellent medical facilities here as well as much to do. It has a great music scene, plenty of good restaurants, an art scene. It is the home of the University of Georgia and a true university town. Plus, it is relatively close to Atlanta.

Floridian transplants all move to Alpharetta before they get acclimated and move on to some place else.
In this case, I think it's a good match because there's a northside hosp alpharetta, there's that new hospital in johns creek, and there's the new northside in forsyth county so you lots of hospitals and hopefully someday soon, ordinary joes like myself will have access to affordable health care and we will be able to utilize them should the need arise.

Not all, we moved from Miami to Lawrenceville after Hurricane Andrew. After that to Wyoming and finally Montana. It was just something about living too close to neighbors. Plus the crime level increased until we got up here. Unemployment is low, but so are wages - so you need to bring a job with you.

I don't even think Alpharetta was on the map back in 1992 so I'm talking about more recent years. Floridians are mostly drawn into alpharetta. Not quite sure why that is.

Geez how little you know - Chartered in 1858 became part of the county in 1932 and has been on my truckers map since the 1960's. My wife lived there in 80's.

I'm speaking figuratively, not literally.
It's a figure of speech to say some place is "not on the map"
The population of alpharetta really started growing during the population infusion after the 1996 olympics. When I lived in Alpharetta 2000-2003, it seemed like every week, I'd meet a new floridian moving in.
