That's the past..... Columbus has announced over 1100 new jobs in the last 3 weeks. Pretty good for this economy. Add on AFLAC, Kia, and BRAC, and I would say Columbus is sitting good right now for the next 5 years. With those jobs will come other businesses. It's a multiplier effect......
BTW, look for another company that is projected to create 300 new jobs in Columbus as well. Nothing is concrete yet, but they are getting close to making a decision. Might happen or might not, but if it does, another BIG win for the Columbus region.

Past or not it is sadly the plain facts.
Most of these jobs are phased in meaning that they may or may not happen depending on economy.
Aflac has a hiring freeze
KIA had little or no effect locally according to Chamber
There have been several hundred contractors already here with BRAC and have done NOTHING for local sales.
Since you are not from Columbus as stated in previous posts you probably are just not familiar with what really goes on.

Columbus was already behind before the recession and now with revenues down etc they are once again looking for handouts to survive due to poor planning.
You can expect much higher crime/poverty to be around for quite a long time and nothing can change that now.
According to local DOL there will be nearly 20k or MORE looking for work by October....
