Has anyone else heard this? Someone told me that they are planning on building a Disney world theme park in Griffin. We don't even have a Target...seems odd.

From what I've heard it's actually a retirement community that was in conjunction with Disney. It isn't actually a theme park. I'm not sure if it is actually going to get built.

I can see it now...

A roller coaster where the cars are shaped like pickup trucks with huge tires and the food courts would sell "grits on a stick".

But for real, at one time when Six Flags was figuring out which locations to shut down, I hear they were considering shutting down the Atlanta location but relocating it to someplace else in Georgia where it wouldn't have other attractions to compete with. As Atlanta adds the Aquarium, World of Coke, and other things, that leaves less reason for visitors to even consider Six Flags as a destination here, and local teens aren't enough to financially support it.

Probably a Celebration type housing community.

When Disney came to Florida, it picked a place in the middle of nowhere - just cattle grazing land. The Disney Execs formulated an elaborate scheme of secret companies to buy up all of the land without anyone catching on to the fact that it was Disney.

So, if Disney World was planning a theme Park in Griffin, I doubt that anyone would know about it until they had all of their land under contract.

Yup--I was born and raised in Orlando before the mouse. It was a quiet little town and Disney quietly bought land in the even smaller places near Kissimmee.

LOL that's funny. The only thing disney here is in the redbox machines! I know a guy though who could probably build your kids a play disney yard! Check out his site Lawn Care (http://iriscityimaging.com/griffincityservices - broken link)
