I'm a self employed web developer looking for a more affordable place. I'm looking for a place where the homes don't cost a lot and are not in a high crime area. I'm a single woman and would like an area that does not have a lot of break-ins.

Are there any areas or towns with homes for around 50-100k that fit this? I don't need a huge house but not a cabin either, 2-3 bedrooms. Other than that all I need is DSL or cable internet connection availability. I'm white but don't want to be in an area completely surrounded by people that are narrowminded about other races. Does anyone have any suggestions.

Arrow Look outside metro Atlanta

Do you have any regional preferences--North, South, East or West?

There are communities in which you might find suitable housing.

It is rather time consuming to list all the possibilities that meet your criteria:

--Access to DSL
--Safe neighborhood
--Open minded people
--$50-100,000
--2/3 bdr

Sometimes I just drive through areas that seem interesting to me and try to imagine what it would be like to live in an area for weeks, days and years.

Single adults particularly need some means of finding a 'Network' or meeting others, jmo. Also--would you consider a townhouse or some of the new 'Close Together' houses? (I'm certain there is a name for these--cannot think of an appropriate descriptor at the moment.) Or do you prefer an older home-- older neighborhood, etc

This type of FYI is helpful to posters who might have ideas for you.

I'd rather a house with a yard. I'm not real picky about the geograhic location North seems like it might be a better pick for me though.
