We are looking into the Chattanooga area and was wondering if I found a position that was in GA would I have to pay GA state income tax or use taxes etc. Or would I be taxed on my state of residence? Thanks Dee

As far as I know, you want have to pay any taxes, im not absolutely positive, but I dont see how Georgia could tax you on working here, when you live in TN, I will get you the most accurate information before the end of the day.

I found this information from the Georgia Department of Revenue site: GATax (broken link)

The Georgia individual income tax is a graduated tax based upon a taxpayer's federal adjusted gross income. The tax is paid by:

. All resident individuals, estates, and trusts who file a federal return.

. All nonresident individuals, estates, and trusts who file a federal return which includes income from sources in Georgia that exceeds five percent of income from all sources.

. All residents or nonresidents who have income subject to Georgia income tax that is not subject to federal income tax.

Hope this helps!

I'm an accountant. You have to pay tax in the state where you earn the money. But the state where you live should give you credit for that, so it comes out about even (depending on the different state tax rates).
