We are possibly relocating to Ga for husbands job. We are looking at Calhoun and Rome. We have a 3 year old and a 5 year old. Just wanted to get some opinions on these 2 cities. One major point for us is the elementary schools??? Also hope to live some where family oriented and lots to do with the kids without major travel involved.

I used to live in Rome and frequently visited Calhoun so I can tell you about both. Rome is the larger city with better restaurants, shopping, and colleges. As far as elementary schools in Rome, West End, North Heights, and Elm Street would be the best for your children and I'd suggest you check out the neighborhoods near these schools.

As For Calhoun, the city has outlet stores and better access to to Atlanta and Chattanooga because of I-75. However, it's much smaller and there's not nearly as much in Calhoun as Rome.

Agree with all of your points. I'll just add that IMO Rome is the prettier of the two towns.
Rome also has one of the best private schools in the state, The Darlington School.
