I am moving to Georgia this summer and will be attending the 2010 Spring Teacher Job Fair in College Park at the end of the month and wanted to research the different counties in the state as far as neighborhoods and schools. Which counties/cities are racially diverse and have good school systems? Any information will be helpful in my research before moving down there.

The better question would be "which counties will be hiring for the upcoming school year, regardless of diversity", and the answer would be "very few". The hiring boom of a few years ago is long gone, and you're going to have to take what you can get- if you can get anything. Once you're established, and presuming that the economy picks up again, you'd then be able to make a move to the more ideal "racially diverse" district you seek.

Very true. These are the counties that will be looking to hire at the end of the month:
Bibb
Clarke
Cobb
Columbia
DeKalb
Forsyth
Fulton
Gordon
Griffin-Spalding
Gwinnett
Henry
Liberty
Newton
Richmond
Savannah-Chatham
Walton

I know some of Gwinnett and Cobb and a little of DeKalb but the rest I have no clue. I will be coming from Philadelphia and do not want to limit myself to Metro Atlanta just because I live in the city.

The Athens area is quite diverse. Athens is in Clarke County, which is a physically small county surrounded by Jackson, Madison, Oconee, Oglethorpe & Barrow counties. You can easily live in one county and work in another (i.e. live in Oconee and work in Clarke). It is convenient to Atlanta, the mountains, Augusta, S.C, etc.

I've actually been to the Athens campus of University of Georgia. It's very quiet over there. I would need to see more of the city though. How are the schools over there?

Good Afternoon,

We might be relocating to Georgia (Federal Transfer) all of the moving companies assist with selling or purchasing a home. I am interested in companies that assist with people who are renting. Of course, we visited Georgia several times but we need assistance with finding somewhere to rent to assist with finding a great places to rent. We prefer to work with professional companies instead of just researching neighborhoods to stay away from. It can help a lot.
