If the OP plans to visit Savannah during March he/she will have to contend with the St. Patrick's Day visitors.

When do the azaleas peak? Mid-April? That would be a nice time to visit Savannah--take a walking tour of the squares and the historic district and shop and eat on River Street.

In coastal GA, they generally peak mid to late March, about 3 weeks before Atlanta and north GA.

I can't believe it, but some of the plants are already starting to bloom and I'm seeing bits of pollen. On really warm winters, it's started as early as late january, but this has been a very cold one and there have been very few warm days that help the flowers to start blooming. I guess they got tired of waiting for it and decided to start anyway. haha

FYI: This does not include the azaleas. They will probably be in full bloom by the beginning of next month due to the extended colder weather.

A student at SCAD mentioned Planter's Inn. What does anyone know/think about that?

It's absolutely lovely, and very well-located.

Planters Inn Savannah, GA Hotel

One thing that Savannah does not suffer a shortage of is first-rate lodging.

A friends daughter suggested Planter's Inn. Its on Abercorn and St. Julian. Has anyone stayed there? If so, what did you think?
