The Atlanta-Savannah Rivalry: Why? (Columbus, Macon: transplants, crime, go bankrupt)

That wasn't really the point I was getting at though. With Savannah, most bars are in such close proximity that you can just walk from one to the other. With Atlanta, that isn't the case. You'd have to use a car or some type of mass transit.

Dude, it's pretty simple and I'm pretty sure you know the answer. Mainstream hip-hoppers (keyword: MAINSTREAM) are all about representing your hood and trying to prove how "tough" or "gangsta" you are. That's not just Atlanta and Savannah, that's anywhere and even within the same cities/areas....it can even be different streets on the same side of town.....pathetic.

It seems to cause the most conflicts with places that are near each other though,
i.e. Columbus, GA Vs. Phenix City, AL.......Warner Robins Vs. Ft. Valley.....

I'm more alternative hip hop (aka...Upscale, dress code, R&B type of hang out...as opposed to thugged out spots).

Anyways, for everybody thats civilized and not on that dumb stuff, there is no real conflict.

What you're describing is the same type of "rivalry" that goes on even within the same town ...when Dude 1 says "F YOU!!!" to Dude 2, just because he stays on a diff street.

FYI there is abundant entertainment to be found within walking distance of Five Points, Peachtree Center, Midtown, Arts Center, Lindbergh, Buckhead, Lenox, Dunwoody, Inman Park, Candler Park and Decatur MARTA stations.

Comparing Atlanta to Savannah is like comparing Apples to ...well, turnips. Stop trying to compare the two and enjoy the benefits of both.

I see what you saying but Macon had nothing but love, not 1 hate word even though Macon and Atlanta are extremely different just like ATL and SAV. And yes hip hop has some say so in what is being said such as hoods, cities and streets but in Southern hip hop we all support each other even if we had some problems with each other but with Atlanta and Savannah being so close and little to no love being shown I just wanna know why

You'll find plenty of people all over the South who dislike Atlanta for one reason or another. If you didn't find anyone in Macon who disliked Atlanta then you didn't talk to enough people. However, if you're only talking about the hip hop community of each town the previous posters have probably nailed it, but in general Atlanta is pretty popular place to dislike.

I don't think there's any sort of rivalry there. What you probably experienced is an outright dislike of Atlanta that's typical of most Georgia residents who live outside the metro Atlanta area.

Atlanta takes far more than it gives in terms of state funding. Plus there's a certain amount of arrogance by Atlanta residents that what we want is what's important; the rest of the state doesn't really count.

If you haven't seen it in Macon or Columbus, you just didn't look very hard.

I'd be curious to see numbers substantiating this. Georgia does have a number of other towns of fairly decent size which act as income generators, but I'm sure the Atlanta metro brings in a substantial amount of revenue to the state.

Atlantans arent the only ones who do this....but what I have noticed with alot of Atlantans is that they seem to think it's perfectly fine to be snobbish toward other less urban, less populated places in GA.....but when people from places like Boston/DC/NY/SF/Chicago have a similar attitude toward Atlanta, the same "holier than thou" behavior they exhibit towards non-metro Atlanta parts of GA all of a sudden becomes a problem when people from other places act that way towards them.
