Hello, I am looking to enroll my soon-to-be 3yr old in some sort of activities for the summer. I have been searching but have only been able to find programs or activities that start at 4yrs and older. If anyone know of any type of activities (sports incl) or programs where they start at age 3 in the Auburn/Opelika area or Phenix City/Columbus Ga area, please let me know....Thanks for any help.

This is a subject I don't usually engage with given the fact all my children are adults. But in this case I agree with cityrover. I am of the opinion that we over do it with activities for young children feeling guilty somehow if we don't entertain them at some level.

The ONE exception though is swimming lessons. Even a 3 year old can learn to be drown proofed, i.e. falls in pool but can make their way to side of pool or ladder. Swimming lessons is the one thing that my children did every summer until they became proficient.

The other thing you can do is read to your child. Even if you are not a good reader, doing so will make you a better reader and your child will remember those times with you more than any other. All 3 of my adult sons say this concerning their mother.

Best to you.
