Hello, my family is looking to relocate to Georgia within the next year or so..I have done research and will be planning a trip. I would really like to live in Alpharetta. Is this by far the best area for good schools and being family oriented? Thank you. P.S. We have children ages ranged from 17 to 6. I am looking to buy and not rent...Thanks again.

The cities you listed are all over the map- both figuratively and literally. The big question is- where will you be working??

I think Alpharetta is your best bet. Athens is not a great place to raise children unless you live in Oconee County which has good public schools. Athens has some ok private schools so depends on your financial resources.

My family lived in Athens Georgia for about three years. We have moved recently to Ohio due to my husband's job transfer. We found Athens to be a nice town. However, the public schools are not the best. We resided in East Athens in a newer subdivision close to shopping and schools and parks. There did seem to be alot of activities for younger children though. During the summer there were lots of day camps for kids to participate in and lots of sporting activities. We did enjoy our time there. It's a college town and during the fall on game days it can be very hectic. It's about an hour and 1/2 drive to Atlanta. Not too bad for day trips. I guess it all depends on where you want to be. But my family enjoyed living in Athens alot.
